Michelle is a native Alabamian and earned her Undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is currently enrolled in the Master’s in Nutrition Science Program there as well. She remains on track to become a registered dietitian where she hopes to work with clients struggling with both eating disorders and type-1 diabetes, and we hope she will choose us as her long term collaborator in that endeavor.

Michelle is deeply passionate commitment to clients with eating disorders and type -1 diabetes stems from her personal experience, having fully recovered from an eating disorder and living as a type -1 diabetic for 26 years, since she was six years old. She knows first hand how painful this can be but also knows full food freedom from both is possible with the right support, determination, self- care, compassion, and all the grace you can muster.

Michelle’s story allows her to be not only an amazing testament to full and lasting recovery after a decade long, hard won fight, but also makes her a shining light for others finding their way on what can feel like an endless dark path. Her never give up attitude combined with unending compassionate curiosity, hilarious sense of humor and an authentic understanding make her an incredible human and integral part of our team.

She is the first to claim her millennial status and own her “slight obsession” with all things Harry Potter. She has a twin sister but will tell you they look nothing alike. She is the most avid of animal lovers and if life permitted she would bring every stray home with her. Michelle is most likely to be found petting a dog while reading a book or listening to a podcast.

Her perfect Saturday involves waking up with an oat milk chai latte (extra hot) and a very long walk with her dogs, weather permitting, and enjoying time with family and friends on a shady patio, preferably with dogs.

The process of recovery ‘f-ing sucks’, but it’s so worth it.
